An antique Indonesian Java style standing Krishna statue depicted Krishna as a young boy. Stood on a round double lotus lead pedestal. Which is itself sat upon a square pedestal, Krishna is seen playing his flute or Bansuri. A divine instrument often associated with Krishna’s Rasa Iila dance. He expresses irresistible joy on his reed. When Krishna is depicted as being between the age of 5 and 8, it is always with his flute. Therefore, during this period, he is aptly called Murlidhara (murali means “flute, ” and dhara means “hold”), signifying the one who holds the flute. Krishna, the most popular avatar of Vishnu, is represented here as a young boy. He wears complex robes. On his head Krishna wears a stylised peacock feather. This symbolises the entire range of colours humans are made of and that each one of us is a part of the almighty. As God, he is formless but to mortals, he appears Blue by day and Black by night, making him just like a peacock feather. The beaded halo behind his head represents his divinity.
